Some people find the bath tub the most relaxing place, complete with scented candles as well as soft music. Others find it boring to sit in lukewarm water and love a quick, revitalizing shower. Choose whatever suits you. If you love to shower, buy a shower gel with your preferred scent. If you’re into the tub, boost the experience with oils or bath gels and anything else that helps you relax. Listen to soothing music While some might be soothed by classic music, if you like classic rock more, play it and dance a bit to relieve some of that stress. Read some book Whether the book’s on the good old paper or in electronic format, reading good material could help you forget about all the worries of the world. Just choose carefully and go for something that you can put down easily. The perfect book for relaxation is one that’s interesting but not too much. Breathe deeply Have a 5-minute break where you concentrate on your breathing. With your eyes closed, sit up straight. Place one of your hands on your belly. Slowly breathe in using your nose. Then reverse the action by exhaling using your mouth. Deep breathing lowers blood pressure and slows the heart rate to counteract the effects of stress. Take a drink Take one or two drinks. But this is no excuse for you to get really drunk and pass out in bed. However, if taking a glass of wine or cold beer helps you relax, go for it. Get comfortable Get into a relaxing mode by changing into comfy clothes. Do you have an outfit you like that’s lying around the place? As long as it’s comfy, put it on. Get into boxer shorts, throw on a night tee, or move around naked–do whatever helps you relax. Enjoy nature Get outdoors and sit on a stool or blanket and let your mind go quiet as you engage each of your senses. This is an extremely effective way to unwind. What do you hear, see and smell? Try some of these ways to relax and you’ll certainly find one method that works to help you relax and unwind after a hard day’s work.
